This design was created during my time at Form til fjells, our team worked with naming, strategy, concept branding, product- and packaging design. Hip was awarded with the Award of Design Excellence 2015 in the category Textile- and Clothing design.
From hospital to sport
"An innovative product that challenges the technical aids category,
and transports it into the sport and lifestyle segment. The product is thinner and has a simpler form, and is thus comfortable in normal use, while it becomes fixed and gives maximal protection in the event of
a fall. The jury is impressed by the details: a double silicone band that fixes it in place, and the internal textile that allows it to breathe and ensures that it is nearly invisible, even under tight clothing.
The product is extremely user-friendly, with its measuring unit and integrated instructions for use. This distinguishes this hip protector from its competitors and contributes to expanding the target group to include the active elderly."
- The jury´s verdict at The Award for Design excellence
The name Hip is short for High Impact Protection, the letter "i" in the logo has been altered to visualise a hip.
The product itself and the packaging is given a sporty design to avoid stigma and let the product blend in both among sports equipment and at pharmacies. The measuring-unit attached to the waistband, and pictograms with easy to understand instructions placed at the tag ensures correct placement, and that the instructions are always at hand when fitting the product. Technical illustrations and explanatory text informs the user about the functionality of the product.
