Bibliarium is an experience centre for biblical stories situated in Sct. Andreas Church in Copenhagen. The main target groups are students and confirmants aged between 7-16 years. Bibliarium relates the visitors own lives to the narratives of Christianity - without trying to missionize, convert or manipulate. This project was a team effort and my main responsability was to create, develop, art direct and implement the concept for the graphic design surrounding the art and interactions of the 48 stories inside the huge wooden labyrinth! I have also designed the outside of three studiocubes in the second floor. The silhouettes comes from Adobe Stock, and the art from many different artists that span from students, contemporary Danish artists, to Caravaggio, Michelangelo and Van Gogh! For more information visit Expology and Bibliariums websites! Others that have contributed to this project are: Studio Shosho, Stumper & Stykker, Alien workshop and Exponent.

Concept description
The 48 stories in the labyrinth are divided into six different themes, recognizable from the world that has always surrounded people: Nature, Stone, Water, Light & dark, Body and City. Each theme has its own illustration element and its own colors. The main visual tool for the stories are pieces of art, often, but not always, connected to biblical stories. In addition, silhouettes are used to create an extra dimension in the labyrinth with a sort of 2D shadow theatre which, together with other visual elements, forms a collage effect. The graphic backgrounds and colors form a discreet reference to their theme and help with wayfinding. Silhouettes and art are used to strengthen empathy in the stories presented through listening devices that the visitors activate in hatches.
The silhouettes and the expressions of the theme illustrations clearly differ from the art and create unity. They do not divert focus from the stories and the art with detailed artistic expressions. The "shadows" live their own 2-dimensional life in a limited world consisting of theme elements, texts and art images. They are a bit playful and wayward, sometimes they interact with each other, sometimes with the art, and sometimes with the text.
Note: This shows only about 1/6 of the labyrinth! The Bibliarium experience covers many square meters!
